Getting to Hog Island

While we are happy to offer advice, planning your transportation to camp is entirely up to you. We hope this guide helps you to consider your different travel options and make the best choice for your budget and itinerary.

Driving: If you’re driving to camp, simply navigate to our physical address: 12 Audubon Rd, Bremen Maine 04551 using your favorite using your favorite GPS app. When you arrive for a camp session, a staff member will greet you and give you further instructions on where to park. Guests must park at the top of the hill near our offices. Parking at the Hog Island dock is reserved for staff. You will then wait at the dock for a boat to take you across to Hog Island.

Public Transportation: If you are not traveling by car, you have a couple of different options available to you.  Ride-share services like Uber and Lyft are not available in our area, so please make sure you have a clear plan for getting to the Hog Island dock.

Getting From Portland or Boston to Hog Island

You have a couple of options here, depending on your travel itinerary and budget.

  1. The least expensive option is Concord Coach Lines Bus: This bus service is very dependable and affordable (about $32 round trip). However, it only leaves once a day so you will need to plan accordingly!  The bus departs Logan Airport at 10:35 am and the Portland Transportation Center (about 5-minute cab ride from PWM) at 1:15 pm. It arrives in Damariscotta, ME at 2:45 PM. The bus that returns south towards Portland and Boston departs from Damariscotta at 9:35 AM daily. We will transport you to and from Damariscotta for your bus if you chose this option. Make sure to let us know in your registration forms if you will need a ride from town!
  2. The most flexible option is to rent a car at the airport and drive yourself. This will also give you an opportunity to explore the rest of the mid-coast before or after your week at Hog Island! There are a lot of amazing things to see and do in the area that are only accessible by car.
  3. The most hands-off option is to charter a ride from Country Coach Charters, Sterling Elite, or another private charter. You can book a ride through this service that will pick you up and drop you off right at the Hog Island dock. You will need to contact them for the price and to schedule your transportation.
